Beating the averages

Beating the Averages

This reading was focused mainly in doing the weird things, in other words, don't go with the flow, instead try to find a different way in which the flow will work more efficiently, nowadays i'm always reading about the new startups, new ideas, new apps, etc. And it's really interesting to see how everything develops, for example i remember an app called "Yo", it was really simple you wanted to tell someone that you were thinking about them and you would send them a "yo". Honestly i wasn't amazed by the app in my perspective it was lame but even though it managed to get millions of dollars in investment and it was something curious, finally the app lost it's moment like many startups but they tried doing something that we always do, send a message to remind someone we are thinking about them and reduced the time it took to send the message, and even the message, it was an interesting idea but as the lecture mentions the survival of a startup is very low and it happened with Yo.

I actually like the way the reading is made by using their own experiences in showing why Lisp is better and actually giving results about its efficiency and well even though right now i've only scratched the surface of Lisp, i can tell it is a very powerful language and i would love to learn how to use it more efficiently. As always a great reading.
